Cayin CS-6PH Phono Preamp | Designed And Tuned In Germany

Tube Phono Stage - For vinyl fans

Cayin has designed the CS-6PH tube phono preamplifier specifically for avid vinyl enthusiasts. It caters to the needs of discerning vinyl fans by providing two phono inputs for exceptional MM (Moving Magnet) and MC (Moving Coil) pickups.

This configuration enables the connection of multi-arm turntables equipped with two distinct pickups, or the option to connect two separate turntables, each utilising an MM or MC system. Users can easily select the desired inputs using the solid aluminium front panel.

Selected Tubes

The MC gain in the CS-6PH is handled by two Electro Harmonix 6922 tubes, while the MM gain utilises two ECC83 tubes from JJ Electronics, which are equipped with high-precision RIAA equalisation for optimal performance.

For the output stage, two 12AT7 tubes are employed.

To ensure voltage rectification and minimise residual ripple, two RCA 22DE4 tubes are incorporated in the design.

Custom Reinforcement:

The Cayin CS-6PH features a front-mounted three-position gain switch labelled as LOW/MED/HIGH, and it is available in both black and silver colour options.

This switch allows users to adjust the gain level according to their preferences, ranging from 40 dB to 57 dB, 61 dB, or 65 dB.

Typically, the 40 dB setting is suitable for moving magnet cartridges, while the gain settings of 57 dB, 61 dB, and 65 dB are intended for moving coil cartridges.

Adjustable Input Impedance and Capacitance:

By default, the CS-6PH is factory-set to a gain of 40dB and an input impedance of 47kohm/47pF for MM (Moving Magnet) cartridges.

However, users have the flexibility to adjust the input capacitance of MM cartridges using the CAP switch located on the front panel. They can select between two options: 47pF or 100pF.

For MC (Moving Coil) cartridges, the CS-6PH provides an impedance selector switch that allows users to tailor the input impedance to match the specific requirements of each pickup. The available impedance options are 47 ohms, 100 ohms, 200 ohms, 470 ohms, and 1000 ohms.

To address the issue of warped records causing low-frequency-induced cone excursions, a low-pass filter is incorporated in the CS-6PH. Users can activate this filter using the rumble switch, which helps prevent such occurrences.

Versatile outputs:

The Cayin CS-6PH offers both a balanced and an unbalanced analog output to which a variety of amplifiers can be connected.

Complex power supply:

Drawing from their extensive 25 years of experience in tube amp design, Cayin has consistently crafted their own transformers.

Specifically for the CS-6PH, the designers have developed an EI power transformer dedicated to the power supply.

When combined with a low-noise voltage regulation system, the CS-6PH ensures a pristine, low-noise, and stable amplification, delivering a superior audio experience.

Handcrafted Precision:

Each CS-6PH phono preamp is hand assembled at Cayin by highly skilled technicians.

A final multi-stage quality and listening test not only checks every function,

but also ensures that the sound corresponds to the reference standard.

High-quality components:

The Cayin CS-6PH uses audio quality capacitors and carbon film resistors,

a large EI transformer for the power supply, ceramic tube bases, and high-end relays.

Easy handling:

All setting options of the CS-6PH can be made using switches on the front to allow the customer easy operation and selection.

The Cayin CS-6PH remembers the last settings after switching off. When the device is switched on, it takes over this again.

One sure thing:

To safely operate the amp, Cayin implemented a soft-start circuit.

After the 60-second warm-up period, the CS-6PH operates in a stable and optimal state. A visually attractive, easy-to-install tube cover is included.
