Rega Planar 3 RS Turntable with tuned Neo PSU MK2 features a newly designed aluminium metal skin HPL laminate, which forms the stiffest plinth ever produced for the Planar 3. This striking dark brushed metallic plinth, framed in high-gloss black, provides a superb foundation for the iconic Planar 3. The RS Edition is equipped with a custom-matched Neo MK2 PSU, with each motor's vibration circuit individually tuned. The low-noise 24v motor drives the sub-platter through the Reference EBLT drive belt for precise speed control. Completing the setup is the renowned handmade RB330 tonearm, paired with the new award-winning Nd5 moving magnet cartridge.

The new Planar 3 RS Edition elevates this design philosophy by incorporating a High Pressure Laminate (HPL) typically used in the Planar 6, 8, and 10 models, offering even greater rigidity. This premium HPL features a striking brushed metal dark aluminium skin with a beautiful satin finish.

The Neo MK2 PSU is a sophisticated power supply for turntables, offering precise speed adjustments, an advanced anti-vibration motor circuit, and the ease of electronic speed switching. It minimizes motor noise, boosts speed stability, and ensures greater accuracy in rotational speed.

Each Nd5 cartridge is carefully hand-crafted by our expert technicians. The stylus features a flawless elliptical nude diamond, made through an elliptical grinding process using polycrystalline synthetic diamond. The design incorporates a new generator geometry with perfect symmetry to ensure precise channel balance.

The Nd5 includes an optimized pole gap for enhanced linearity and reduced cross-talk, resulting in a significantly broader soundstage compared to previous models. This advanced cartridge is built with miniaturized parallel coils, wound in-house with 38-micron wire and 1275 turns, creating a low inductance, low impedance generator for vastly improved high-frequency response.
Additionally, our double brace system is strategically mounted in areas that require extra rigidity, creating a structurally solid “stressed beam” structure.
For years, Rega has led the way in creating lightweight, ultra-rigid plinths. The combination of a lightweight particulate core with a highly rigid phenolic resin skin became the foundation for the exceptional performance of the iconic original Planar range.
This sophisticated plinth design minimizes energy absorption and unwanted resonance, which could introduce unnatural distortions in the music. Heavier mass can also transfer excess energy, such as motor or bearing noise, directly into the spinning record. The strategic use of braces allows for double-thickness phenolic resin in these critical areas, effectively addressing issues of mass absorption and unwanted energy transfer.
